Monte Rosa Hotel Zermatt

Monte Rosa is the outlier among Michel Reybier Hospitality's Zermatt properties: opened in 1855 by Alexander Seiler, it's considered Zermatt's oldest hotel and the birthplace of alpine mountaineering tourism. Edward Whymper set out from here in 1865 for the first ascent of the Matterhorn — the mountain that still defines the town.
